The check that catches almost everything takes about eight seconds and it is not the one people do. Most people glance at the first few characters and the last few. That is the check an attacker plans for.

The middle matters because generating an address with a chosen prefix is cheap and generating one that matches at both ends and through the middle is not. The prefix page explains why the first characters carry so little information.

What these three addresses are

Each one is a separate public key. They are not aliases pointing at a shared name, and there is no redirect between them. That is worth knowing because it means a bad copy of one tells you nothing about the other two, and a good copy of one does not vouch for them either. See each mirror is its own key.

It also means there is no technical sense in which one is the real one. They differ only in which key generated them. Anybody presenting an awazon market address as primary or official is adding information that does not exist in the address itself.

Things we will not tell you

• Which one is up. We do not connect to them.
• Which one is fastest. Speed is a property of your circuit, not the address. See whether one mirror is better.
• When we last looked. We did not look.
• How often they change. Guessing at that would be inventing a schedule.

If none of them load

A page that does not load is one of about six different problems wearing the same coat. Your circuit, the network in general, the service being offline, the service being under load, a wrong address, or a blocked local connection. The failure looks identical in five of those cases.

The one thing that separates them cheaply is trying a second address from the list. Same browser, same circuit, different key. If the second one behaves differently, the problem is not on your side. Nobody from any market will send you an address privately, and no support channel exists outside the site itself.
